Finding Order & Serialized Product Data in OneScan
Use this article to locate order information or serialized product data when you have one or more product identifiers such as an NDC, UPC, GTIN, LOT number, expiration date, or serial number.
Important: OneScan is case-sensitive. When entering or filtering by any value, make sure the capitalization matches exactly.
Quick Reference — Start Here
Use the table below to identify which workflow(s) to follow based on the information you have available.
| Information Available | Recommended Workflow |
|---|---|
| GTIN | Workflow A |
| NDC, UPC, or Drug Name | Workflow B → then Workflow A |
| LOT number and/or Expiration Date | Workflow A or Workflow C |
| Serial Number + GTIN | Workflow D (best option) |
| UPC, LOT, or Serial Number | Workflow C |
| Physical product with 2D barcode | Workflow D or Workflow E |
| Physical product, any barcode | Workflow F |
Workflow A — Master Data: GTINs → Serial Number Table
Best for: Locating specific serialized product records when you have a GTIN, serial number, LOT, or expiration date.
The Serial Number table shows every serial number for a specific GTIN that has been consumed in OneScan. Use this to confirm whether a product was received or to find its associated order.
- Navigate to Master Data > GTINs
- Filter the list using a unique identifier shown on the page (e.g., GTIN, NDC, or drug name)
- Once you find the correct GTIN, click the Edit button to the right of that line
- Scroll to the bottom of the page — you will see a Serial Number table with the following columns: Number (Serial Number), Lot Number, Expiration, Status
- Type in the text box beneath any column header to filter the list
- To the right of any serial number line, click the blue button to view the full history of that serial number, including its associated Order ID
Workflow B — Master Data: Products → GTINs
Best for: When you have a UPC, NDC, or drug name and need to find the associated GTIN before using Workflow A.
Note on NDC format: Package-code NDCs (those with hyphens) must be converted to the 11-digit billing format before searching in OneScan. You can find the correct billing format at NDClist.com.
- Navigate to Master Data > Products
- Filter the product list by UPC, NDC, or drug name
- Click Edit to the right of the desired product
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the GTIN tab
- This will display all GTINs associated with that NDC — copy the relevant GTIN and proceed to Workflow A
Workflow C — EPCIS Orders Page
Best for: Searching across orders when you have a UPC, LOT number, or serial number. Other identifiers (NDC, GTIN, expiration) are available as filters but may not return results as reliably.
Note: If you do not know the product's UPC, look it up first using Workflow B.
- Navigate to the EPCIS Orders page
- Filter the order list using one or more of the available fields — for best results use UPC, LOT, or Serial Number
- The filtered results will display a list of orders containing that product
- From there, you can review or export the data as needed
Workflow D — EPCIS T2 TNT Report
Best for: When you have the physical product with a 2D barcode, or a Serial Number + GTIN combination. This is the most direct way to pull a full product trace.
Note: If you do not have access to the T2 TNT Report feature, contact OneScan support.
- Navigate to EPCIS and select T2 TNT Report
- Either scan the 2D barcode on the physical product, or manually enter the GTIN and Serial Number (remember: OneScan is case-sensitive)
- Click Look Up
- The system will return the product record and its associated T2 report, which contains a variety of traceability details
Workflow E — Edge: Inquiry/Reprint
Best for: Quick general product history lookups when you have the physical product or its barcode. Note that this method only returns general product details and history — it is not the most complete source of order information.
- Click Edge in the top menu bar and select Inquiry/Reprint
- Scan or paste the product barcode into the barcode field
- If the product's file has been successfully processed in OneScan, the system will display general product details and history
- On the right side of the screen, the scanned product will appear — click the blue counterclockwise arrow button to view more in-depth history, including the Order ID the product came in on and shipped out on
Workflow F — Edge: Receive
Best for: Situations where you need to check whether a product was received, using its 2D barcode. Carries the same limitations as Workflow E.
- Navigate to Edge > Receive
- Scan the product's 2D barcode
- If the product was previously received in OneScan: You will receive an error message indicating this, and the error will include the Order ID the product came in on
- If the product has not been activated in OneScan: The product will scan in for activation — however, you can still find the order information on the left side of the screen next to "Order #" in the box where the product appears
